There was no mistaking the noise but it took me a couple of minutes to spot this Peacock way over my head.
I maneuvered around so the sun wasn’t back lighting him and he gave a couple more calls.
Then he fluffed a little bit and I thought he was going to drop down, or maybe raise his tail. I’m sure he did, but not while I was watching and I finally moved on, still hearing his call as I headed to the bamboo garden.

I was thinking of making this a Silent Sunday post, but anyone who ever spent time around Peacocks knows that just doesn’t fit. These birds can be a nuisance, but there’s no getting around their flashy color scheme.
Peacocks only seem to have one volume when they have something to say: high!
Me, more genteelly: My apologies for any comments you’ve left in the last few days that I have not acknowledged. My WordPress site has had a hiccup and some comments have gotten left out of the Comments list. Fortunately there are other ways to find them, now that I know.
A Peacock was showing off his finery, turning round and bowing on a small patch of grass, never quite stepping out into the sun.
Followed by his flowing gown this peacock sauntered by a flower border that while pretty, didn’t match his style.
Peacocks roam free at Magnolia Gardens as well as Middleton Place that I featured last week. On a recent visit this one was entertaining visitors showing off all of his glorious colors.
Using a small grassy area bordered with flowers as a stage he preformed a dance that was very elaborate, turning in full circles then reversing. If he was trying to impress a peahen it didn’t work as there weren’t any in sight. I was impressed though.
Several Peacocks have the run of Middleton Place, a historic SC Plantation and Museum. They mostly stay in the barnyard area and on my last visit I spotted just this one sleeping on top of a rabbit hutch.
He opened his eyes to watch me watch him but he showed no sign of getting up.
