This male Anhinga was drying on a stump, nicely set off by reflections of the vegetation on the far side of the pond.

I watched this Alligator slowly swim along the edge of the pond hoping he would somehow line up with the reflection of the Star Hibiscus.

And he did!

He hardly made a ripple and the reflection stayed intact.

This Trumpeter Swan was casually feeding, pulling vegetation up from the pond bottom.

He was in no particular hurry, paddling back and forth in and out of shadows created by the pond-side trees.

His movement made ripples in the water as he got further from shore, maybe as the depth of the water changed.

And the ripples sometimes make freakish reflections…two headed swan…or head with a donut hole.

It wasn’t intentional, but I mostly captured this swan going to my right–was that his better side?

Swan Lake Iris Gardens is a public park in Sumter, SC and has been home to all eight known swan species.

Following up on my last post about seeing the French Huguenot Church from the parking garage…
The spire of St. Philips Church dominates the view in this direction. You can just make out a sliver of the French Huguenot Church’s decorative top in the lower right corner.

From the other direction, at street level.

I have parked in the upper floors of the Cumberland Street garage many times, but never had noticed how the Gothic details of the French Huguenot Church were visible.

I was more familiar with this view, at street level.

It was a dull day so the pink doesn’t seem as striking as when the sun is fully out, but it is still pink. See my post from just over a year ago, French Huguenot Church, Pink for a comparison.
