There were splashes of color all around pond on this grey day.

The Crepe Myrtle to the right of the gazebo is heavily loaded with Spanish Moss. It will look remarkably different here when that tree leaves out.

This little statue is tucked in to the left of the bridge with a bright Azalea backdrop.

Spanish Moss is beautiful, but it can be very harsh looking in winter when there are fewer leaves to absorb or reflect some of the light.
Here, I gave the view of the back of the Long White Bridge a nostalgic treatment to tone the light down a bit.

Another iconic image at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, this time the Long White Bridge.

Many of the azaleas around this section of the pond were removed or cut way back last year changing the options for getting reflection images.

A lot of vegetation has been removed from the pond in front of the Long White Bridge at Magnolia Plantation over the last couple of years. Some was due to storm damage and some seems more like over zealous pruning. Previous years there would always be something flowering… Azalea, Magnolia, Calla Lily, Hibiscus…throughout the summer and into fall. This year has been mostly green whenever I’ve been.
This view is from behind the bridge when a late blooming Azalea added some color in a tangle of Star Hibiscus leaves.

See a Black and White version from a year ago.
Red Texas Star Hibiscus is about the only plant in bloom near the iconic Long White Bridge at Magnolia Plantation right now.

The individual flowers make quite a presentation, and generally there is only one bloom at a time on a stalk.

I looked for insect occupants but didn’t find any this time out.

A wider view…
